Pep Guardiola says he cannot recall telling anybody he believes Roberto De Zerbi will succeed him as Manchester City manager cebu
A story has emerged claiming the Catalan privately tipped the Brighton boss to succeed him after City drew at the Amex Stadium in May cebu
Yet, while Guardiola may have cast doubt over whether that occurred, he has repeatedly been effusive in his praise of the Italian and remains so ahead of Saturday’s meeting cebu between their two clubs cebu
Guardiola, whose future beyond the expiry of his contract in 2025 is unclear, said: “I don’t remember that cebu
“Maybe I have bad memory but I’m sure Roberto can train in any team around the world cebu
I don’t have any doubt cebu
“I don’t remember saying that to the players cebu
I remember saying before he arrived, one or two games in, about sustaining the manager, but I don’t remember saying that honestly cebu
“It’s none of my business cebu
If the chairman asks my opinion I will give my opinion but it’s none of my business cebu
“I’m not the sporting director cebu
It’s not my responsibility to say what’s going right or wrong cebu
”Former Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk boss De Zerbi has made a big impression since taking over at Brighton just over a year ago cebu
He guided the club into European competition for the first time with a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League last season and they have started the current campaign strongly cebu
Guardiola feels this proves a manager need not have had experience at the highest level to land the biggest jobs cebu
He said: “It doesn’t mean you have to be at the top clubs to be manager of the top clubs cebu
I was appointed Barcelona first-team (manager) coming from the fourth division with no experience at the top level cebu
“You have the idea of the club, the sporting director follows the idea, they hire the manager for this idea, they hire players to follow the idea cebu
When that happens it’s going well cebu
“Man City have done this, Liverpool with Jurgen (Klopp) for many years – winning titles with the same process and same ideas cebu
”Guardiola, 52, is widely considered the greatest coach of his generation having last year added a third Champions League title to a glittering CV that also includes five Premier League wins cebu
His players are always in the perfect body-shape position cebu
Pep Guardiola on Roberto De ZerbiYet even he feels like he can learn from a relative youngster like 44-year-old De Zerbi cebu
He said: “His players are always in the perfect body-shape position to get the ball cebu
“It’s a stupid thing to say but one of the key points cebu
Everyone moves in the right moment, tempo cebu
“cebu Football is not ‘you have to move’, it’s when cebu
It’s body shape in the perfect shape cebu
It’s really good cebu
“Everything he does makes sense and I learn cebu

World Rugby have insisted their new plans for a “Nations Championship or Cup” are “for the many, not the few” despite critics suggesting that it will block the progress of emerging nations cebu
The sport’s governing body have unveiled a new global calendar that will include the creation of a new, two-tier competition in 2026 cebu
The top tier will include the four Rugby Championship teams, the Six Nations and two more sides yet to be confirmed but expected to be Japan and Fiji cebu
Below this will sit a second tier of a further 12 teams, with the earliest that one of those dozen could feature in the top tier being 2032 cebu
And World Rugby insist that the “certainty and opportunity” that regular fixtures against peers will provide is where the real opportunities for development exist cebu
“If rugby is to become a truly global sport, we simply have to make it more relevant and more accessible to more people around the world,” said Bill Beaumont, chairman of World Rugby cebu
Bill Beaumont and Alan Gilpin have defended World Rugby’s plans (Getty Images)“A new era is about to begin for our sport cebu
An era that will bring certainty and opportunity for all cebu
An era that will support the many, not the few and an era that will supercharge the development of the sport beyond its traditional and often self-imposed boundaries cebu
All boats will rise together cebu
”Alan Gilpin, chief executive, added: “There is more certainty for more nations as a result of today’s decisions than there has ever been cebu
It is not perfect cebu
Would we all like relegation and promotion and pathways in these competitions to start sooner in some cases than they are? Absolutely cebu
“But those compromises allow for that type of pathway, that type of relegation to take place in the foreseeable future, rather than not in the foreseeable future, which is what the status quo provides cebu
Is it perfect? Probably not cebu
Is it a hell of a lot cebu better than the current situation? Absolutely cebu
”The revamped calendar will not include a “Nations Championship” in years in which a men’s World Cup or British & Irish Lions tour will occur, in theory providing room for increased “crossover” fixtures cebu
World Rugby could not provide any clarity on what these fixtures will be, and admitted that no agreements had yet been put in place, though insisted that there will be a 50 per cent aggregate increase cebu
That would mean a rise from 18 to 27 games for the 12 teams, though it is unclear how these fixtures will be allocated or arranged cebu
Gilpin said: “I think what we say to the teams – Portugal, Chile, others that have had fantastic tournaments here – is this competition structure from 2026 will provide them with guaranteed certain schedules, particularly against their peers, which is actually the type of teams they need to be playing against, in July and November on an annual basis cebu
Portugal upset Fiji to secure their first Rugby World Cup win (Getty Images)“In addition, the package that was agreed today provides for more crossover fixtures for what we used to call tier one and tier two fixtures in the years when this championship isn’t being played than is currently the case cebu
So, 50 per cent more guaranteed crossover fixtures in those other years than is currently the case, in addition to guaranteed fixtures against their peers that they don’t currently have cebu
“This is about looking at other years – traditionally what we have called ‘Lions years’ and the Rugby World Cup years – and populating those periods with fixtures that allow those possibilities and that the high-performance unions agreeing that some of their Rugby World Cup warm-up matches have to be against those other teams cebu
”Bill Sweeney, chief executive of England’s Rugby cebu Football Union (RFU), was later unclear on whether England would be open to touring or playing fixtures against emerging nations cebu
He did, however, confirm that talks were underway over a fixture cebu between a resurrected England ‘A’ and Portugal after a standout tournament for Os Lobos cebu
“We’re all interested in growing the game globally,” Sweeney explained cebu
“We saw Portugal here and Chile, they were great competitors cebu
So we’re fully supportive of that cebu
I think there’s a number of factors here that people should feel encouraged about in terms of emerging nations cebu
